In most cases, your clients would suffer a major financial hardship if they became sick or hurt and unable to work without DI protection - everything is based on your client’s income. Let’s explore this even deeper... many of us sell life insurance to help replace the income of the family breadwinner in the event of his or her untimely death, and we sell investment products to help our clients plan for retirement income. But what if your client becomes sick or gets hurt and is unable to work? Where would his or her income come from? Even if your client were able to tap into the cash value of his or her life insurance policy or investments, the reality is that money was most likely earmarked for use during retirement and not to fund a disability. Keep in mind that if you invested 10% of your client’s income for 10 years, ONE year of disability would wipe away those savings!
In addition, statistics show that the probability of a person suffering a disability at age 35 is 1 in 5 and 1 in 6 at age 45. If your client makes $60,000 a year at 45, they would earn $1,320,000 if they worked until age 67. If he or she became disabled, how would your client replace that income without DI?
National Insurance Brokerage is excited to announce that we have partnered with a Disability Wholesaler, Chris Veenstra (President of GFDIC) — a DI industry veteran with proven results — who is able to share his expertise with our agents, agencies and broker dealers. National Insurance Brokerage's goal is to offer you a full spectrum of products to meet your clients' needs and help grow your business. Without DI, it's almost impossible to create a complete financial plan for your clients.
Your clients may say they don’t need disability insurance— just show them this picture of Chris in 2008. Chris, along with many others, probably thought he would never actually need DI — but he was smart enough to get it. DI and Disability Overhead kept Chris' business running and provided him with an income stream while he recovered from his injury. Always look for opportunities to discuss DI, Disability Overhead protection and Disability Buy Out.
The opportunities are all around us, we just need to keep our eyes open for them and then ASK!
